I {Heart} Thanksgiving Printables

Now I don’t want to be negative or anything, but the other day I was reading through my blogs in my Google Reader and came across a crafty blog where the author was discussing how she thinks Thanksgiving is boring!  I was shocked, maybe I took it a little to seriously, but still was shocked!  I won’t go into Christmas decorations being put in the stores earlier every year, blah, blah, blah, Christmas music, blah, blah, blah, commercialization, blah, blah, blah.  I won’t rant about those, but really Thanksgiving gets passed over.  And I don’t think it is boring, but to each their own.

Now I am going to get to my point.  There are a ton of cute printables (FREE!) out there in blog land.  I have been waiting for just the right ones to print off and add to our Thanksgiving decorations (which only consists of a wooden turkey my mom just gave me, and some fall pumpkins that aren’t too Halloweeny, so they are staying out for another month).

I just uploaded these two puppies at Sam’s and cannot wait to go pick them up tomorrow afternoon!  So excited!  I have empty frames just waiting to be filled.

There is also {THIS ONE} from Craftily Ever After, but I felt like other matched our décor a little better.

The {SECOND ONE} I am printing, is also from Craftily Ever After:

I think I am going to print some of these off for my the sisters I Visit Teach to give to them this month!

{I Heart} This Adorable Cupcake Costume

Next year my Little Miss IS going to be a cupcake.  I thought that last year for this year, but this year (or is it technically next year?) I really mean it!

I have seen a lot of great cupcake costumes, but this one is maybe my favorite and it has a great tutorial on how to make it!

I {Heart} Bake it Pretty

image

I don’t know that I am an, “Inspired Baker”, but am truly loving all the fun things at Bake it Pretty.  Have you been there before?  I’ll wait while you go browse around . . . .

I just found this great site full with all sorts of things from Bakers Cuteness Heaven, this past week.  I even feel like a lot of it is reasonably priced, I always want to buy what’s the best deal, so I checked around, compared it with Walmart and Michael's.  Unless you have a 40% coupon at Michael’s, Bake it Pretty is still a pretty great deal on most things.

A few of my favorite things:

{YumBots}
I couldn’t help just putting in the product description,
YumBots are happy to serve mankind. Just fill their cubic heads with cake batter and set your oven to “stun.” In a few nanomoments you’ll have an entire squad of scifi cupcakes. Made of high-tech silicone and built to last, each ‘Bot has a rotating head for extra android action.

{Sprinkles}
Oh, the sprinkles!!  All kinds, colors, shapes!

I have an addiction to these things, love buying them for the seasons to bake cupcakes and muffins in.

I {Heart} House of Smiths

I have recently come across the cutest blog EVER,  House of Smith’s!

Shelly, is just too cute!  She not only has great projects, lots of pictures, but is so fun to read!

image

A great blog full of endless projects!  Confession:  I spent a whole entire naptime, a precious two hours, browsing through her blog.  Before I knew it naptime was over and I hadn’t even had a chance to look through her vinyl shop . . . Don’t worry I went back later, and oh my!  I couldn’t just choose one thing.  I am going to vynilize everything with her cute stuff!

They LOVE DI!  If you have never been to DI, find one, go now, DI is awesome!!

She made this cute bench and picture collage with stuff from DI!!

My other favorite thing, Hanging Rose Balls
image image
She has a great tutorial on how to make these gorgeous rose balls with . . . . are you ready for it . . . . crepe paper!  She breaks it down, step by step, with lots of pictures.  Which if your challenged like me, is such a lifesaver!

And one last thing, she has a chandelier in her laundry room.  I couldn’t even tell you what kind of light I have in my laundry room.  Oh and she bought it at DI, tells you how she revamped it, and she made a cord cover for it, not like it’s fancy or anything.

I would be lucky if my living room looked this chic!

I know, it’s fall, but I loved this SPRING lettering and plaque.  I’m thinking you could easily make a FALL one with orange/red/yellow roses and FALL at the bottom . . .

Ok, I’ll stop, but go over take a look at all their cute stuff!  Or today you can stop by Eighteen25, where Shelly has a great post on chic cheap Halloween decorating

Dollar Store Cupcake Stands

IMG_7403

I originally stumbled across this idea here at According to Kelly.  I knew that I just HAD to make some to use at my daughter’s birthday party.  I LOVED them SO MUCH that I left them out for a week after the party!  I LOVED them even more because they were CHEAP and EASY.  Two things that are musts in my craft book.

{Supplies}

candle stick holders
plates
spray paint
super glue

I trucked my butt to the Dollar Tree to pick up supplies.  I got four clear glass candle holders and one painted ceramic squarish candle holder.  Instead of spray painting silver trays, I got already brightly colored plastic plates (seven plates, three green, three pink, and one polka a dot pink).  I also bought the stickiest strongest glue,  Super Glue Fix-All Adhesive.  Don’t worry, just because it dollar store glue, it is totally awesome.

I then headed to Wally World and got some cheap white spray paint.

{Steps}

I proceeded to go spray paint crazy (Confession:  I’ve never spray painted anything before.  And now I’m hooked).  I spray painted my candle stick holders perfectly matching white.

Wait not so very patiently for the paint to dry . . . .

Supplies painted and ready to be assembled.

Began experimenting with different stacking combinations.

   IMG_7374
I liked this one with three plates and four candle stick holders (two put together on the base), but was worried about stability.

IMG_7377
I also liked this one with one plate and two candle stick holders.

IMG_7375
This one provided stability and lots of room for food.

  IMG_7398
Ultimately I choose to do two two-level trays using the four glass candle stick holders and one one-level tray using the pink and white plate and the squarish base.

Time to glue pieces together.

 IMG_7215IMG_7216IMG_7218
Glue, let dry, use heaviest objects you can find in your pantry to help dry.  Repeat if doing several levels of trays.  On the second level, I turned the candle stick holder upside-down, to provide more room for food on the green plate.

TA DAAAAA!!!  The finished products!  I love them!  Everyone at the party wanted to know where I bought them and were shocked to find that I made them myself!!  And everything, but the spray paint (which was a buck at Wal-Mart), came from the Dollar Store!  The two taller pink/green stands were $4.00 a piece and the pink polka dot with the square base was $2.00!
